Women of the Movement

Drama45 min per episode

In 1955, Mamie Till-Mobley refuses to let her son Emmett Till’s murder disappear into the machinery of the Jim Crow South. Adrienne Warren is Mamie, first as a grieving mother and then as a woman determined to make the country confront what happened; Cedric Joe’s Emmett remains at the center of every decision she makes. As the case draws national attention, the series follows Mamie’s fight for justice and the family around her, including Alma (Tonya Pinkins), while tracing how one family’s loss became part of the wider civil rights movement.
