Laal Singh Chaddha

ComedyDramaFamilyRomance165 min

Laal Singh Chaddha follows an innocent Sikh man whose personal story keeps intersecting with major moments in modern India. Aamir Khan is Laal, a man with a low IQ and stubborn optimism, moving from childhood into adulthood as the Emergency, the 1983 Cricket World Cup, and the Punjab riots unfold around him. He stumbles into unexpected opportunities, forms unlikely connections, and keeps returning to the memory of his childhood love, with Kareena Kapoor tied to that thread of his life. The film filters public upheaval and private longing through Laal’s literal, hopeful point of view.
