Memoir of a Snail
AnimationComedyDrama95 min
When orphaned twins are forced apart, Grace Pudel grows from a lonely child into an isolated adult, clinging to her snail collection as misfortune keeps crowding her life. Sarah Snook voices Grace, a melancholic misfit trying to find some confidence amid grief, routine, and the accumulated clutter around her. Kodi Smit-McPhee is her brother Gilbert, whose absence shapes much of what follows. Told in adult stop-motion animation, the film tracks Grace through childhood and adulthood with a distinctly Australian backdrop, mixing dry humor, sadness, and the small indignities of everyday life.
