Emily Blunt is Mary Poppins, returning to 1930s London when the Banks family is under strain and Michael and Jane have long since grown up. Ben Whishaw’s Michael and Emily Mortimer’s Jane find themselves back in her orbit as she steps in for the next generation, steering the children through household upheaval with songs, impossible errands, and sudden bursts of magic. The story brings the action back to Cherry Tree Lane, mixing live action and animation as everyday worries give way to talking animals, airborne escapes, and Mary’s brisk, unshakable sense of order.
