Amid the winter siege of Stalingrad, Soviet sniper Vassili Zaitsev becomes a symbol for a city under assault after his marksmanship starts cutting through the German advance. Jude Law is Vassili, a shepherd-turned-soldier whose growing fame turns him into both a propaganda figure and a target. Across the rubble, Ed Harris’s Major König arrives to hunt him down, turning the battlefield into a duel fought through ruined factories, collapsed apartments, and frozen streets. With the wider Battle of Stalingrad raging around them, the film narrows its focus to two sharpshooters measuring distance, patience, and nerve.
