ComedyDramaRomance121 min

Constance Wu is Rachel Chu, a New York economics professor who travels to Singapore with her longtime boyfriend for his best friend’s wedding and discovers, far too late, that Henry Golding’s Nick Young comes from one of the country’s wealthiest families. Rachel is suddenly pulled into a world of private estates, exacting relatives, and relentless social attention, where Nick’s family name makes her an object of curiosity and judgment. Michelle Yeoh’s Eleanor, Nick’s formidable mother, sees Rachel as an outsider, and the trip becomes a crash course in the expectations, rivalries, and family politics surrounding Singapore’s elite.
