Lindsay Crouse is a best-selling psychiatrist and author who tries to help a compulsive gambler settle a debt, only to be drawn into the schemes behind a pool hall and the people who run it. There she meets Joe Mantegna’s polished cardsharp, a guide to a tight world of stings, short cons, and shifting loyalties where every conversation feels like part of the setup. As she moves deeper into that circle, the film keeps its attention on professional deception and on a woman who understands compulsion in theory but finds herself caught inside someone else’s game.
