The Counselor

ActionAdventureCrimeDramaMysteryThriller117 min

A successful Texas lawyer steps into a cocaine deal moving up from Mexico and finds himself far beyond the safe distance of contracts and courtrooms. Michael Fassbender is the Counselor, a polished professional whose bid for quick money pulls his private life into cartel business. Penélope Cruz appears as his fiancée Laura, while Javier Bardem's Reiner and Malkina (Cameron Diaz) move through the same world with a very different understanding of its rules. Brad Pitt also turns up as Westray, a broker with plenty to say about how this trade works. Ridley Scott directs the story along the Texas-Mexico border, where every connection carries risk.
