After a fatal mission over the Colorado mountains, expert firefighting pilot Pete Sandich returns as a spirit, still hovering over the lives he left behind. Richard Dreyfuss is Pete, whose bond with fellow pilot Al (John Goodman) and longtime girlfriend Dorinda (Holly Hunter) takes on a strange new shape when he’s tasked with guiding a younger flyer from beyond the grave. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the story moves between aerial firefighting missions, romance, and afterlife fantasy as Pete watches Dorinda and the new pilot grow closer.
