The Cider House Rules

DramaRomance126 min

During World War II-era Maine, orphan Homer Wells has spent his whole life at St. Cloud’s, where Dr. Wilbur Larch has taught him to deliver babies and assist with the women who come through the hospital. Tobey Maguire is Homer, bright and restless, while Michael Caine’s Larch sees him as both protégé and heir. When Homer leaves the orphanage to make a life beyond its walls, he lands in the world of apple picking, migrant labor, and new attachments, including a young woman played by Charlize Theron. The bond with Larch still follows him, along with the question of who gets to decide his future.
