Summer School

ComedyRomance97 min

A laid-back high-school gym teacher has his summer plans derailed when he’s drafted to teach a remedial English class full of goof-offs and underachievers. Mark Harmon is the reluctant substitute, more comfortable on a football field than in front of a blackboard, but his offbeat approach and improvised field trips start to reach students no one expects much from. Across the hall, Kirstie Alley’s fellow teacher runs a much stricter classroom, putting his methods — and his growing interest in her — under closer scrutiny. Carl Reiner’s comedy keeps the focus on schoolroom chaos, faculty friction, and a class that refuses to behave.
