The Spirit
ActionAdventureCrimeFantasyThriller103 min
After a bullet ends his life, rookie cop Denny Colt returns to Central City as the Spirit, a masked vigilante fighting the city’s underworld from the shadows. Gabriel Macht is Colt beneath the mask, while Samuel L. Jackson’s Octopus is a ruthless criminal mastermind with plans that reach far beyond another score. Eva Mendes brings in the Spirit’s complicated past as Sand Saref, and Scarlett Johansson turns up as the coolly calculating Silken Floss. The film leans into comic-strip stylization, with hard shadows, glossy noir cityscapes, and a rogues’ gallery built around secret identities, crime, and revenge.
