When a massive alien probe starts vaporizing Earth’s oceans while calling out to the long-extinct humpback whale, William Shatner’s Kirk leads the Enterprise crew on an unusual rescue mission: travel back in time and bring whales home. Leonard Nimoy is Spock, newly restored and applying his cool logic to a plan that depends on cloaking devices, borrowed technology, and a lot of improvisation on Earth. As the crew scrambles to stay unnoticed in an unfamiliar era, they cross paths with a marine biologist (Catherine Hicks) who becomes essential to the mission.
