As age, family pressures, and another messy case catch up with them, LAPD partners Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh go after a Chinese crime boss trying to spring his brother from prison. Mel Gibson's Riggs is still impulsive, while Danny Glover gives Murtaugh the burden of a man who keeps finding reasons not to slow down. The investigation pulls in Joe Pesci's nonstop Leo and adds Chris Rock as a younger detective thrown into the chaos. Rene Russo returns as Lorna, with Riggs facing personal commitments at the same time the case turns into a showdown with a fast, ruthless new opponent.
