Mad God
AnimationFantasyHorrorSci-FiWar84 min
A figure known only as the Assassin descends into a nightmare underworld of ruined cities, decrepit bunkers, tortured souls, and grotesque machinery, moving ever deeper through a landscape of war, mutation, and collapse. Written and directed by Phil Tippett, the film is built entirely through painstaking stop-motion, with hand-crafted creatures and sets giving each chamber the look of a decaying industrial diorama. Alex Cox and Niketa Roman are among the credited cast as the film threads past scientists, soldiers, beasts, and vast underground wastes, building its world through images rather than exposition.
