Vera

CrimeDramaMystery90 min per episode

DCI Vera Stanhope patrols northeast England with a battered raincoat, a sharp eye, and little patience for evasions as she works cases of murder, kidnapping, and blackmail. Brenda Blethyn is Vera, an obsessive investigator whose blunt manner and caustic wit keep suspects, witnesses, and colleagues off balance. Alongside her team, including trusted detective Joe Ashworth (David Leon), she picks through family secrets, local grudges, and shaky alibis from Newcastle to the Northumberland coast. The investigations stay closely tied to place, where isolated villages and tight-knit communities can make the truth harder to reach.
