The Magic of Belle Isle

ComedyDrama109 min

Monte Wildhorn, a once-famous Western novelist whose drinking and isolation have stalled his work, rents a lakeside cabin in Belle Isle hoping to recover his voice. Morgan Freeman is Monte, writing from a wheelchair and keeping most people at a distance until the family next door draws him in. Virginia Madsen’s Charlotte is a single mother raising three daughters, and their easy presence begins to break through Monte’s routines and self-pity. As the summer unfolds in the quiet rural town, new friendships and a return to the typewriter start to pull him back toward the work he left behind.
