The Alienist

CrimeDramaMystery49 min per episode

In mid-1890s New York City, a string of murders targeting street children pushes the police to the edge of a case no one knows how to solve. A newspaper illustrator, a secretary determined to work beyond the limits placed on women, and an alienist named Laszlo Kreizler form an unofficial team to track the killer by studying behavior as much as evidence. As they move through tenements, brothels, and the city’s corridors of power, their investigation runs into corruption, class prejudice, and the fear stirred up by crimes too brutal to ignore. Daniel Brühl and Dakota Fanning are folded into a mystery where each clue forces the group deeper into a city built on secrets.
