James Franco is Jake Huard, a shipbuilder’s son who claws his way into the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, after promising his dying mother he’d get in. Once there, his weak grades and stubborn streak make him a target in a place built on discipline, hierarchy, and endurance. Tyrese Gibson’s Cole is one of the officers pushing him to meet the standard, while Jordana Brewster’s Ali becomes part of the small circle Jake leans on. As the pressure mounts, he finds an outlet in the academy’s brigade boxing tournament.
