A beleaguered Hollywood crew lands in a quiet Vermont town, and the shoot quickly tangles with local politics, amateur theater, and small-town routines. William H. Macy is the anxious screenwriter trying to keep production from flying apart, while Alec Baldwin’s leading man and Sarah Jessica Parker’s actress bring their own off-camera distractions. Around them, town officials, residents, and crew members all start orbiting the movie machine. Written and directed by David Mamet, the film keeps one eye on backstage scramble and the other on how a film set reshapes a place built on Main Street rhythms.
