Akshay Kumar is Keshav, a man in a village near Mathura whose new marriage is upended when his wife refuses to stay in a home without a toilet. Bhumi Pednekar’s Jaya leaves soon after the wedding, pushing Keshav into a fight with family custom, village attitudes, and the bureaucracy around a basic household need. Rooted in rural north India, the film turns a private conflict between husband and wife into a wider dispute about sanitation, dignity, and the rules that shape everyday life for women.
