Hayden Christensen is Clay Beresford, a wealthy young man who goes in for heart surgery and experiences anesthetic awareness, leaving him conscious but paralyzed on the operating table. As the procedure begins, snatches of conversation and unexplained complications suggest that something is wrong well beyond the operating room itself. Jessica Alba is Clay’s wife, pushed into life-or-death decisions while under pressure from his family, and Lena Olin’s presence as his mother adds another layer of control and suspicion. Outside the operating room, the crisis becomes entangled with money, trust, and the people closest to him.
