The History Boys

ComedyDramaRomance109 min

At a Yorkshire grammar school in the 1980s, a class of sharp, unruly boys are pushed toward Oxford and Cambridge by teachers who disagree on nearly everything except the stakes. Richard Griffiths is the maverick English master who floods lessons with literature and argument, while Stephen Campbell Moore’s younger hire has been brought in to raise scores for a headmaster fixated on results. Frances de la Tour is the lone history teacher in the middle of it. Around them, the students — including faces like James Corden, Dominic Cooper, and Russell Tovey — bounce between exam pressure, classroom performance, and the scramble to turn talent into opportunity.
