Hustler White
ComedyDramaRomance79 min
Hoping to study hustling as a social phenomenon, anthropologist Jurgen Anger (Bruce LaBruce) arrives on 1990s Santa Monica Boulevard and gets pulled into the strip’s world of sex work, porn, and obsession after meeting Montgomery Ward, an angel-faced hustler embodied by Tony Ward. Borrowing the bones of Sunset Boulevard and relocating them to West Hollywood, the film follows hustlers and clients through a campy, explicit mix of romance, satire, and street-level encounters. Ron Athey and Vaginal Davis appear along the way as the movie maps a nightlife scene where money, desire, and performance are tightly entwined.
