Coco Before Chanel

Drama110 min

After years in an orphanage, Gabrielle Chanel works in a provincial bar, mending costumes for performers and singing each night with her sister — the routine that gives her the nickname Coco. Audrey Tautou is the young Chanel as a liaison with the wealthy Baron Balsan (Benoît Poelvoorde) brings her into French high society and opens space for her growing talent as a designer. Moving through cabarets and country estates in turn-of-the-century France, the film follows the years before the Chanel name became synonymous with fashion.
