Winged Seduction: Birds of Paradise
Documentary46 min
National Geographic photographer Tim Laman and ornithologist Ed Scholes spend years pushing into the rain forests of New Guinea to document every species of bird of paradise, a family of tropical birds known for elaborate plumage, intricate courtship displays, and unusual calls. The film follows their expedition through remote jungle camps and high canopy perches as they search for all 39 species and try to photograph behavior rarely seen on camera. Alongside the fieldwork, it keeps its focus on the birds themselves — their dances, colors, and the isolated habitats where some of the world’s most distinctive tropical species still live.
