When Soviet paratroopers descend on a small Colorado town at the start of World War III, a group of teenagers flee to the mountains and turn themselves into a guerrilla resistance. Patrick Swayze is Jed Eckert, the older brother trying to hold the group together, with Charlie Sheen’s Matt at his side as the occupation closes in on their home. C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, and Jennifer Grey are among the friends drawn into the fight, while Harry Dean Stanton is the boys’ father, seized in the first wave. John Milius frames the conflict as an alternate 1980s America under military occupation.
