Pieces of April

ComedyDrama81 min

April Burns has invited her estranged family to Thanksgiving in her cramped Lower East Side apartment, hoping one dinner might close years of distance. Katie Holmes is April, scrambling to cook for a mother with terminal breast cancer and relatives already dreading the drive in from the suburbs. As Joy (Patricia Clarkson) heads toward the city with the rest of the family, April’s broken oven turns the day into a search through her building for anyone willing to lend a kitchen. Derek Luke’s Bobby stays close beside her, while the trip across town keeps resurfacing old resentments before everyone even reaches the table.
