Mr. Deeds
ComedyRomance96 min
Longfellow Deeds is a small-town New Hampshire pizzeria owner and amateur poet whose life flips when a late uncle leaves him a $40 billion fortune. Adam Sandler is Deeds, suddenly transplanted to a Manhattan mansion where lawyers, executives, and strangers all want a piece of him. Winona Ryder’s Babe comes into his orbit as a seemingly sweet small-town nurse while secretly working a tabloid angle, and Deeds is left navigating opportunists, corporate maneuvering, and his new status in the public eye. John Turturro adds another offbeat note as Emilio, the wealthy heir’s intensely devoted valet. Country-versus-city culture shock drives much of the comedy.
