My Neighbor Totoro

ActionAdventureAnimationAnimeComedyFamilyFantasy86 min

When sisters Satsuki and Mei move to rural Japan with their father to be closer to their hospitalized mother, the new house and the woods around it open onto a hidden world of forest spirits. Noriko Hidaka is Satsuki, the older sister trying to settle into the move, while Chika Sakamoto gives Mei the curiosity that draws her deepest into the trees. Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the story follows the girls through country routines, unsettling absences, and encounters with Totoro, a huge, mysterious neighbor only children seem able to see.
