The Honest Candidate
Comedy110 min
João Ernesto Ribamar is a corrupt politician leading Brazil’s presidential runoff when a curse from his grandmother leaves him incapable of telling a lie. Every campaign stop, TV appearance, and closed-door negotiation becomes a problem as blunt honesty collides with poll-tested messaging and a career built on corruption. Leandro Hassum is at the center of the scramble, with Luiza Valdetaro among the figures around Ribamar’s campaign as the election reaches its final stretch. The setup drives the comedy through public gaffes, political spin, and the increasingly awkward fallout of hearing a candidate say exactly what he means.
