The Tashkent Files

DramaMysteryThriller134 min

The mysterious death of India’s second prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, becomes the center of a widening investigation into whether he died naturally or was assassinated. Shweta Basu Prasad and Mithun Chakraborty are part of a large ensemble as official accounts, public allegations, and buried details collide around one of the country’s most disputed political cases. In Hindi, the film frames that historical controversy as a procedural hunt for answers, with Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Tripathi among the many voices weighing evidence, motive, and the story that was accepted as fact.
