After an unidentified force destroys three Klingon cruisers and turns toward Earth, Admiral James T. Kirk takes command of the newly refitted U.S.S. Enterprise. William Shatner is Kirk, rejoining Leonard Nimoy’s Spock and DeForest Kelley’s McCoy as the crew heads out to intercept the vast intruder before it reaches the planet. As the Enterprise tests its new systems, the mission shifts from defense to investigation, with the crew trying to understand the source, purpose, and intelligence behind the entity known as V’Ger. Robert Wise’s film brings the original series cast back together on a larger, more monumental canvas.
