The Opposite of Sex
ComedyDramaRomance105 min
Christina Ricci is Dedee Truitt, a sharp-tongued 16-year-old who bolts from Louisiana to suburban Indiana and lands in the home of her half-brother Bill. Martin Donovan's Bill lives with his boyfriend, Matt, and Dedee quickly throws their carefully arranged life off balance when she seduces Matt and sets off a messy chain of betrayals. Lisa Kudrow appears as a tightly wound woman caught in the spillover, while the story keeps widening into a tangle of family grievances, sexual jealousy, and bad decisions. The comedy is dry and cutting, with Dedee's running narration framing the damage as she goes.
