Holy Spider

CrimeDramaThriller118 min

In the holy city of Mashhad, a journalist pushes into the city’s underworld as she investigates a series of murders targeting sex workers. Zar Amir Ebrahimi is the reporter following the trail of the so-called Spider Killer, moving through police indifference, public hostility, and a culture shaped by religious pressure. Opposite her, Mehdi Bajestani is the man carrying out the killings under the belief that he is cleansing the streets of sinners. Based on the true story of Saeed Hanaei, the film keeps its focus on the investigation and the wider system that allows the murders to continue.
