The Brand New Testament

ComedyDramaFantasy114 min

God lives in a shabby Brussels apartment, where he treats his family with petty cruelty until his daughter decides to rebel. Ea (Pili Groyne) is tired of being trapped at home under her father’s rules, and Benoît Poelvoorde’s God is less a wise creator than a sour, controlling presence lording over ordinary city life. From that irreverent setup, the film turns a domestic standoff into a surreal comic fable, bringing the divine down to cramped rooms, family arguments, and the streets of Brussels.
