Eight years after taking the blame for Harvey Dent’s crimes, Bruce Wayne has withdrawn from Gotham while Batman remains a hunted enemy of the city he tried to protect. Christopher Nolan’s finale returns to Christian Bale’s battered Wayne as a cat burglar, Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway), draws him back into a shifting underworld and Bane (Tom Hardy) emerges as a terrorist leader with the strength and strategy to overwhelm Gotham’s institutions. Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman return as the crisis pulls Batman out of hiding and forces Gotham to face the consequences of the legend it cast out.
