Breaking Away
ComedyDrama101 min
Fresh out of high school in Bloomington, Indiana, 19-year-old Dave is fixated on cycling, Italian culture, and the idea of racing Europe’s champions, while his three closest friends are left to figure out what comes next. Dennis Christopher is Dave, whose devotion to bikes and all things Italian starts to wear on everyone from his buddies to his parents; Dennis Quaid’s Mike brings the group’s athletic streak and shortest fuse. In a working-class quarry town, their post-graduation limbo sharpens around Dave’s obsession and the local racing scene that gives him something concrete to chase.
