Rue Bennett is a teenager back from rehab, trying to stay sober while finding her place among classmates whose lives are tangled up in love, friendship, sex, drugs, trauma, and social media. Zendaya is Rue, the show's central point of view as high school parties, family strain, and fragile routines keep pulling her off balance. At the center of her orbit is Hunter Schafer's Jules, whose bond with Rue reshapes the way she moves through school and the people around her. The ensemble follows a wider circle of students as desire, identity, and damage spill into nearly every relationship.
