Vagrant schoolgirl Ryuko Matoi arrives at Honnouji Academy carrying half of a giant scissors blade and hunting the person who killed her father. Her search puts her on a collision course with Satsuki Kiryuin, the academy’s ruthless student council president, who rules the campus through a strict hierarchy enforced by uniforms that grant overwhelming power. When Ryuko gains a living sailor uniform of her own, their fights turn into a battle over more than school control. As Ryuko pushes deeper into the academy’s structure, her vendetta pulls her toward Satsuki’s family and the fashion empire behind the uniforms, where clothing itself has a mind and an agenda.
