In Sweden, a double murder in 2004 leaves investigators with victims, evidence, and no suspect they can prove. The case stalls for years, hanging over the police and the families of Mohammed Ammouri and Anna-Lena Svensson as every lead runs dry. When the investigation is revived, detectives turn to a method that has never been used in a Swedish murder case: forensic genetic genealogy. As old evidence is reexamined and family trees are traced outward from a fragment of DNA, the search shifts from the original crime scene to a painstaking hunt through records, relatives, and missed connections. The series follows how a cold case finally starts to move again after sixteen years of dead ends.
