In a quiet Illinois town, an elderly couple keeps a secret buried in their backyard: a chamber that opens onto a deserted world under a strange sky. Irene and Franklin have treated the place as a private refuge and a mystery they can live beside, not solve. That changes when a young stranger appears with a connection to the chamber neither of them can explain. As they try to protect their secret, questions spread beyond their home, pulling in family strains, watchful neighbors, and people who seem to know more about the portal than they do. Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons center a story where domestic grief and routine collide with something vast and otherworldly.
