Bullied teenager Maddie Kim starts getting messages from an unknown number that seems to know her better than anyone should. Katie Chang is Maddie, still grieving her father when she learns the sender is David, whose consciousness was uploaded to the cloud through an experimental brain scan. As Paul Dano’s Caspian Keyes, a brilliant teen living inside a carefully controlled world, drifts into the same orbit, the story widens from one family’s loss to a conspiracy around “Uploaded Intelligence” and the people trying to control it. The series uses sleek 2D animation to frame corporate secrecy, online life, and the human cost of mind-uploading technology.
