Tita is the youngest daughter in a Mexican family where tradition says she must remain unmarried and care for her mother for life. Lumi Cavazos is Tita, whose love for Pedro (Marco Leonardi) is blocked by Mama Elena’s iron rules; when Pedro marries Tita’s sister to stay close to her, the household fills with jealousy, duty, and desire. As Tita retreats to the kitchen, her cooking begins to carry her emotions into the food itself, affecting everyone at the table. Romance, family conflict, and the rituals of home unfold against the backdrop of the Mexican Revolution.
