The Grandmaster

ActionAdventureDramaRomanceWarWestern130 min

In Republican-era China, Ip Man’s quiet life in Foshan is upended when rival schools and shifting power bring the martial arts world to his door. Tony Leung Chiu-wai is Ip, the Wing Chun master navigating public challenge, war, and an eventual move to Hong Kong, while Ziyi Zhang’s Gong Er enters as the disciplined daughter of a northern grandmaster, intent on defending her family’s name. Directed by Wong Kar-Wai, the film follows martial arts lineages, codes of honor, and personal rivalry across rain-swept courtyards, snowy northern streets, and a country being remade by conflict.
