Vampire in Brooklyn
ComedyFantasyHorrorRomance102 min
Brooklyn detective Rita Veder is drawn into a baffling murder investigation when a drifting ship packed with corpses turns up offshore, and the case gets stranger after she meets Maximilian, Eddie Murphy’s elegant Caribbean stranger with designs on her. Angela Bassett is Rita, a sharp cop whose street-level police work starts brushing up against the supernatural. Directed by Wes Craven, the film folds police-procedural beats into vampiric seduction and Murphy’s broader comic detours, including appearances as an alcoholic preacher and a foul-mouthed mobster.
