The Birdcage
Comedy119 min
South Beach club owner Armand Goldman is suddenly asked to look like a conventional straight dad when his son announces an engagement to the daughter of a conservative senator. Robin Williams is Armand, running a drag nightclub with his longtime partner Albert, while Nathan Lane’s Albert struggles to fade into the background for a family dinner that keeps getting more impossible. Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest are the prospective in-laws, bringing politics, manners, and a lot of discomfort into Armand and Albert’s carefully improvised household.
