As unprecedented solar storms begin heating Earth’s core, Chiwetel Ejiofor is scientist Adrian Helmsley, one of the first to understand that the planet’s crust is becoming unstable. John Cusack’s Jackson Curtis, a writer trying to protect his family, stumbles onto the same secret as governments race to build massive arks for a small fraction of humanity. With President Thomas Wilson drawn into the crisis and time running out, Roland Emmerich’s disaster film turns the warning into worldwide upheaval: volcanic eruptions, collapsing cities, earthquakes, and floodwaters that leave Jackson scrambling for any route to safety.
