Mansfield Park

ComedyDramaRomance112 min

Fanny Price is sent away as a child to live with her wealthy Bertram relatives at Mansfield Park, where she grows up on the edges of the household, looked down on by most except her cousin Edmund. Frances O'Connor is Fanny, now a quiet but clear-eyed young woman whose position in the family grows more precarious with the arrival of the polished Crawford siblings. Around her, Jonny Lee Miller's Edmund, Embeth Davidtz's Mary, and Alessandro Nivola's Henry turn the estate into a knot of flirtation, obligation, and social calculation. Patricia Rozema's adaptation keeps the period setting but gives Fanny a sharper, more openly literary voice.
