On Christmas Eve, young Billy Chapman watches a man in a Santa suit murder his parents, then grows up under the harsh rule of Mother Superior at a Catholic orphanage. Years later, Robert Brian Wilson is the adult Billy, trying to hold down a job at a toy store until he’s asked to fill in as the store Santa. Lilyan Chauvin’s Mother Superior hangs over Billy’s life even after he leaves the orphanage, as punishment, fear, and religious guilt collide with the holiday image that first traumatized him.
